I've been reading Rampersad's "Ralph Ellison" and he's pretty short with Langston Hughes, whose poetry I've admired for years. I also admire Ellison, but it's Hughes' photo I have in my "Guys" collection. Thank you Alice, for these beautiful words from a master modernist. It's no surprise that he and Ralph Ellison were friends from the beginning.
