by David Graeber

While we're at it, at one point I had this idea to gather together a series of quotes for a poster or T-shirt or something. I never quite finished it, but what I ended up with was something like this. Anyone have any corrections or better quotes or additional material (remembering the quotes are supposed to be _short_.) WHAT SOME GREAT TWENTIETH CENTURY STATESMEN HAVE SAID ABOUT ANARCHISM: An infantile disorder Vladimir Lenin a malady that needs to be swept by an iron broom Leon Trotsky the real enemy of Marxism Josef Stalin A product of Jewish domination that will lead to the destruction of all authority, morals, and discipline. Adolf Hitler This movement among the Jews is not new? [it is] a worldwide conspiracy for the overthrow of civilization and for the reconstitution of society on the basis of arrested development, of envious malevolence, and impossible equality? Winston Churchill When compared with the suppression of anarchy, every other question sinks into insignificance. His is a deeper criminality than any other. Theodore Roosevelt: Anarchism is a crime against the whole of humanity J. Edgar Hoover "a wild orgasm sweeping across the country like a prairie fire." Richard Nixon (nb: he meant this negatively) WHAT ANARCHISTS SAY ABOUT GREAT TWENTIETH-CENTURY STATESMEN: We'd probably have been better off without them.
