Terrence McKenna and Timothy Leary

Pharmacratic Inquisition The Christian persecution of archaic religions based on sacramental ingestion of entheogenic plants and the consequent personal access to ecstatic states; whose first great victory was the destruction of the Eleusinian Mysteries at the end of the fourth century; which then reached a gruesome climax in the persecution of witches in the Middle Ages; and which continues in today's Pharmacratic State in the guise of a public health "War on Drugs." -Terrence McKenna -- Timothy Leary's opening statement in defense from federal persecution I am pleading not guilty in this case, because I am an American citizen. As such, I am entitled to the free exercise of my religion. I am entitled to engage in scientific research. I am entitled to live in my home, travel in my car and bring up my children the best I can in accordance with my beliefs and values. My motives before and during the incident of my arrest are clearly spiritual, interior and not ulterior. These are not personal privileges that I claim, but constitutional rights of every citizen. In defending myself against this prosecution, I am defending the right of every American citizen to lead the religious life of his own conviction, to worship, to experience, to commune with universal forces, to transcend his ego and dissolve the petty differences that divide men whom love should bind, to seek religious ecstasy, revelation and truth as men have done throughout the ages.

A Room With A View by E.M. Forster

Chapter I: The Bertolini "The Signora had no business to do it," said Miss Bartlett, "no business at all. She promised us south rooms with a view close together, instead of which here are north rooms, looking into a courtyard, and a long way apart. Oh, Lucy!" "And a Cockney, besides!" said Lucy, who had been further saddened by the Signora's unexpected accent. "It might be London." She looked at the two rows of English people who were sitting at the table; at the row of white bottles of water and red bottles of wine that ran between the English people; at the portraits of the late Queen and the late Poet Laureate that hung behind the English people, heavily framed; at the notice of the English church (Rev. Cuthbert Eager, M. A. Oxon.), that was the only other decoration of the wall. "Charlotte, don't you feel, too, that we might be in London? I can hardly believe that all kinds of other things are just outside. I suppose it is one's being so tired." "This meat has surely been used for soup," said Miss Bartlett, laying down her fork. "I want so to see the Arno. The rooms the Signora promised us in her letter would have looked over the Arno. The Signora had no business to do it at all. Oh, it is a shame!" "Any nook does for me," Miss Bartlett continued; "but it does seem hard that you shouldn't have a view." Lucy felt that she had been selfish. "Charlotte, you mustn't spoil me: of course, you must look over the Arno, too. I meant that. The first vacant room in the front--" --"You must have it," said Miss Bartlett, part of whose travelling expenses were paid by Lucy's mother--a piece of generosity to which she made many a tactful allusion. "No, no. You must have it." "I insist on it. Your mother would never forgive me, Lucy." "She would never forgive me." The ladies' voices grew animated, and--if the sad truth be owned--a little peevish. They were tired, and under the guise of unselfishness they wrangled. Some of their neighbours interchanged glances, and one of them--one of the ill-bred people whom one does meet abroad--leant forward over the table and actually intruded into their argument. He said: "I have a view, I have a view."

All You Need Is Love by Steeleyes

xXx Love is a many splendoured thing. Well yes… But doesn’t it depend on the definition? No, not of love Of splendoured It does sound kind of absurd Splendoured Don’t look at it too close It starts to appear worse Love IS many FACTORED Love is a many factored thing. Hmmm… it’s no worse anyhoo… But no better either. Love is a bowl of cherries? Did Dali coin that one…? Love, love, love… Safe one that, The Beatles. Love is… Remember all those cards? With the little guy and his girl Looking like li’l humanoid penguins? Or penguinoid humans to be more exact about it. But what EXACTLY is love? Love is all around… Yes. But what IS it?! Show People (1928)

Marion Davies as Peggy Pepper William Haines as Billy Boone Colonel Pepper brings his daughter, Peggy, to Hollywood from Georgia to be an actress. There she meets Billy who gets her work at Comet Studio doing comedies with him. But Peggy is discovered by High Art Studio and she leaves Billy and Comet to work there. For her new image, she is now Patricia Pepoire and ignores Billy when he sees her on location. When she is not longer wanted by the little people who do not understand "ART", she plans to marry Andre to get a fake title. Billy will not let her go without a fight. * Marion Davies and Williams Haines were two of the few Hollywood actors of the 1920's who didn't get caught up in themselves so what two better actors could have starred in this film, throwing a huge razzberry at those who did! Since this movie was made in 1928 at the end of the silent era, it is superior in every way. The action and editing is fast paced, along with a highly enjoyable plot. Poor Peggy Pepper comes to Hollywood from Georgia and befriends Billy Boone, a Mack Sennett-type comedy actor. He gets Peggy into the movies, but not the movies she expected. When "High Arts" studio beckons, Peggy moves on from comedy to drama ("real art"). She is brainwashed by her new drama friends that she is now better than those silly one-reeler comedians and she starts to act accordingly, even changing her name to Patricia Pepoire. She soon snubs her old pal Billy (the one who got her into the movies to begin with!) and is even downright NASTY to him in a few scenes! You start to hate her, but she gets her wake up call and of course all ends well. Marion and William sure do make a gorgeous pair -- William Haines never looked better and Marion was flawlessly beautiful. The exaggerated-on-purpose acting works well in this film; you can just FEEL the sarcasm emanating! Another wonderful addition to this film is all the star-spotting you'll be doing! Charlie Chaplin even did a cameo!

Marijuana Butt Sex Island

Welcome to the first Home Page of Marijuana Buttsex Island ! The whole concept started out as a bit of a joke on the Majority Report Radio Blog, and, for all of you who don't know, the Majority Report is a radio show staring Janeane Garofalo and Sam Seder, and the show is one of many featured on Air America Radio, the liberal radio network formed almost a year ago. Well, sometimes on Blogs of any type, especially political ones, a type of person that likes to show up and cause trouble is known as a "troll", and these are usually some skanky and nasty individuals who have a lot of anger and frustration that obviously isn't getting dealt with in a positive way. One particularly Hilarious troll that sometimes shows up on the Majority Report Blog goes by the name of "Patrioterer", and this ridiculous character is the one who actually coined the phrase "MARAJUWANA BUTTSEX ISLAND", as a way to diss liberals (?) Haha! I don't know, but it became a long running joke on the Majority Report Blog. So, to make a long story short, me (LeeP) and another fellow on the Blog (n69n) discussed making a comical emblem for this Island Nation, and n69n designed a very Hilarious picture based on the ideas that we discussed on the blog, and he is the one who designed the pic shown on this page. Not only has this design been made, but, I've been working on setting up a constitution and government for this Island paradise too! Haha! This little Island in the Caribbean is going to be making a big name for itself in the near future, especially when it becomes the biggest tourist hot-spot in the world! Now see how it all began! Check out the original "Patrioterer" post that started it all: WHY DONT ALL YOU LIBBIE LOONIE JEWFAG HOMOQUEERS MOVE TO MARAJUWANA BUTTSEX ISLAND AND LEAVE THE AMERICA LAND TO AMERICALANDERS OF WHITER CHIRSTIAN MENS TO HAVE WITH JESUS! YOU OFFEND JESUS EVERY WAY WITH YOUR SATANS OF YOUR GENTILES DOING BUTTSEXING AND BEING STONED ALL THE TIMES! JESUS SAID ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE NO SINS CAN STONE PEOPLE AND YOU ARE THE WORST SINNERS IN ALL THE TIME OF THE WORLD! SO! YOU OFFEND JESUS EVERY WAY TWICE AND MUST NOT STAY IN THE HOLY LAND OF JESUS THAT IS AMERICA! SO GET OUT! NOW! AND TAKE YOUR NIGGYWOP CHINKDYKE JEWFAG SPICFLICKERS WITH YOU! ALL! TELL THE GRASS SKIRT WOGS ON MARAJUWANA BUTTSEX ISLAND TO LOOK OUT AND MOVE OVER AND BEND OVER BECAUSE THE WHOLE FAGAGENDATRON ARMY IS MOVING THERE! Mr. Brightside by The Killers

Coming out of my cage And I've been doing just fine Gotta gotta be down Because I want it all It started out with a kiss How did it end up like this? It was only a kiss It was only a kiss Now I'm falling asleep And she's calling a cab While he's having a smoke And she's taking the drag Now they're going to bed And my stomach is sick And it's all in my head But she's touching his chest now He takes off her dress now Let me go And I just can't look It's killing me And taking control Jealousy Turning saints into the sea Turning through sick lullaby Joking on your alibi But it's just the price I pay Destiny is calling me Open up my eager eyes I'm Mr. Brightside

Love Always by PC Girl

Two paths cross in the sand, as if by fate, Full moon shines down, as their friendship begins. Next day in the water, on the balcony, on the pier, Their attraction for each other so easy and natural. That night, under the moon again, Wishing the moment would last forever. Not knowing if they'll ever meet again, In the morning they say good bye. Promises to write, to call, too soon forgotten, But the feeling he's still inside her heart remains. Eight months pass, he sends a letter, The "star of her dreasm" wants to visit. The plan is thwarted, how could this happen? Why can't they make their paths cross again? Two years pass since their first meeting, She sends a letter, a shot in the dark. A quick phone call comes in response, With a promise to call again later, unfulfilled. Months pass without another word, She decides to give up and try to forget. For fifteen years she locks the memories away, Moving on with a marriage and family. But then, the 17th anniversary of their meeting, Somehow loosens the lock on that memory closet. A few memories trickle out and thoughts of reconnecting, Married now, thoughts remain thoughts. The year passes by with only small glimpses, Escaping from the memory that she kept so tightly closed. Until one morning, quite by surprise, All of the memories come rushing over her. Concerned and a little cross at first, She wonders who let them out. Then, answering her diary's call to be opened, She enjoys reliving their love story, as she reads. The emotions she had pushed away for so long, Came out from hiding too. She wonders, after all this time, How the feeling he's still inside her heart could remain. The desire to find him is much stronger this time, And she begins her search. Harder than expected, he's not listed anywhere, But the will to find him keeps her going. The internet begins to give her clues to the Places where he's lived. She feels like Mary, "pondering these things in her heart", And recording them in her journal. One day she writes for, "a sneak peak inside his life," That's the day she gets her 'message in a bottle'. A court case for visitation of his daughter reveals many things, She's most impressed with her birthdate, their anniversary. After 24 days of research and difficult phone calls, it comes, "He's married with children in *****, here's his address." Two weeks later, with the help of luck, They are finally able to make their paths cross again. Such a sweet reunion for them both, Finding out how their lives have unfolded. Then she hears the words she came for, "If I could go back, I'd have come to see you." The visit is much too short, many things left unsaid, But "the ruler of her fantasy world" wants to keep in touch. After a friendly hug, she drives away, hopeful, As she reads the billboard "A Fresh Start".

Love Is A Drug, Scientists Say

Being in love is physically similar to the buzz of taking drugs and also has withdrawal symptoms, an expert on addiction has said. Dr John Marsden says dopamine - the drug released by the brain when it is aroused - has similar effects on the body and mind as cocaine or speed. "Attraction and lust really is like a drug. It leaves you wanting more," the National Addiction Centre head said. His findings will appear in a BBC programme to be broadcast next month. Pounding heart "Being attracted to someone sparks the same incredible feelings no matter who you are. Love really does know no boundaries," he said. According to Dr Marsden - a chartered psychologist - the brain which processes emotions becomes "fired up" when talking to someone it finds attractive. The heart pounds three times faster than normal and causes blood to be diverted to the cheeks and sexual organs, which causes the feeling of butterflies in the stomach, he says. However, as with cocaine and speed, the "hit" is only temporary, though it can last between three and seven years, he added. Perfect partner Dr Marsden's research for the BBC's Body Hits series suggests people look for similar features to themselves in a partner as they are searching for characteristics in their mother and father, who have already successfully raised a child. "It might look like we are all after the perfect partner to wine and dine but underneath, our animal instincts are seeking out an ideal mate to share our genes with." "We tend to go for the smell of somebody who has a very different immune system and that stops you fancying your family. "Our biology drives us to find a perfect compromise between sameness and difference and we strike that balance all the time when it comes to choosing faces and smells," he said. Sex trap The research also suggests sex is booby-trapped to make partners bond. "Your body has evolved over millions of years with one aim - to go forth and multiply, so while having kids may not be on the agenda just yet your body has a few tricks up its sleeve to drag you in that direction," he said. According to the research the more two people have sex together, the more likely they are to bond. "We all know you can have sex without falling in love but if you have enough sex with the same person there's a good chance you will hit the body's booby-trap which is there to tip you head over heels into love," said Dr Marsden. "So your body goes all out to make you bond with your partner and that makes love highly addictive and the withdrawal sucks." http://www.mistressmemoirs.com/img/home01.gif

The Notebooks of Leonardo Da Vinci by Leonardo Da Vinci

INTRODUCTION.

I am fully concious that, not being a literary man, certain
presumptuous persons will think that they may reasonably blame me;
alleging that I am not a man of letters. Foolish folks! do they not
know that I might retort as Marius did to the Roman Patricians
[Footnote 21: _Come Mario disse ai patriti Romani_. "I am unable to
find the words here attributed by Leonardo to Marius, either in
Plutarch's Life of Marius or in the Apophthegmata (_Moralia_,
p.202). Nor do they occur in the writings of Valerius Maximus (who
frequently mentions Marius) nor in Velleius Paterculus (II, 11 to
43), Dio Cassius, Aulus Gellius, or Macrobius. Professor E.
MENDELSON of Dorpat, the editor of Herodian, assures me that no such
passage is the found in that author" (communication from Dr. MULLER
STRUBING). Leonardo evidently meant to allude to some well known
incident in Roman history and the mention of Marius is the result
probably of some confusion. We may perhaps read, for Marius,
Menenius Agrippa, though in that case it is true we must alter
Patriti to Plebei. The change is a serious one. but it would render
the passage perfectly clear.] by saying: That they, who deck
themselves out in the labours of others will not allow me my own.
They will say that I, having no literary skill, cannot properly
express that which I desire to treat of [Footnote 26: _le mie cose
.... che d'altra parola_. This can hardly be reconciled with Mons.
RAVAISSON'S estimate of L. da Vinci's learning. "_Leonard de Vinci
etait un admirateur et un disciple des anciens, aussi bien dans
l'art que dans la science et il tenait a passer pour tel meme aux
yeux de la posterite._" _Gaz. des Beaux arts. Oct. 1877.]; but they
do not know that my subjects are to be dealt with by experience
rather than by words [Footnote 28: See Footnote 26]; and
[experience] has been the mistress of those who wrote well. And so,
as mistress, I will cite her in all cases.

11.
Though I may not, like them, be able to quote other authors, I shall
rely on that which is much greater and more worthy:--on experience,
the mistress of their Masters. They go about puffed up and pompous,
dressed and decorated with [the fruits], not of their own labours,
but of those of others. And they will not allow me my own. They will
scorn me as an inventor; but how much more might they--who are not
inventors but vaunters and declaimers of the works of others--be
blamed.

Quote by Freddie Mercury

"Hello again my beauties - is it happening?" "People are always asking me what my lyrics mean. Well I say what any decent poet would say if you dared ask him to analyse his work: if you see it, darling, then it's there."

In My Craft or Sullen Art by Dylan Thomas

In my craft or sullen art Exercised in the still night When only the moon rages And the lovers lie abed With all their griefs in their arms, I labour by singing light Not for ambition or bread Or the strut and trade of charms On the ivory stages But for the common wages Of their most secret heart. Not for the proud man apart From the raging moon I write On these spindrift pages Nor for the towering dead With their nightingales and psalms But for the lovers, their arms Round the griefs of the ages, Who pay no praise or wages Nor heed my craft or art.

Anything Goes!

In olden days a glimpse of stocking, Was looked on as something shocking, Now heaven knows, Anything goes! Good authors, too, Who once, knew better words, Now only use four-letter words, Writing prose, Anything goes! The world has gone mad today, And good's bad today, And black's white today, And day's night today, When most guys today, That women prize today, Are just silly gigolos. And though I'm not a great romancer, I know that you're bound to answer, When I propose, Anything goes!

The Love Poems of Marichiko by Kenneth Rexroth

VII Making love with you Is like drinking sea water. The more I drink The thirstier I become, Until nothing can slake my thirst But to drink the entire sea. XII Come to me, as you come Softly to the rose bed of coals Of my fireplace Glowing through the night-bound forest. XXV Your tongue thrums and moves Into me, and I become Hollow and blaze with Whirling light, like the inside Of a vast expanding pearl. XXXVIII I waited all night. By midnight I was on fire. In the dawn, hoping To find a dream of you, I laid my weary head On my folded arms, But the songs of the waking Birds tormented me. XLV When in the Noh theater We watched Shizuka Gozen Trapped in the snow, I enjoyed the tragedy, For I thought, Nothing like this Will ever happen to me. LV The night is too long to the sleepless. The road is too long to the footsore. Life is too long to a woman Made foolish by passion. Why did I find a crooked guide On the twisted paths of love? LX Chilled through, I wake up With the first light. Outside my window A red maple leaf floats silently down. What am I to believe? Indifference? Malice? I hate the sight of coming day Since that morning when Your insensitive gaze turned me to ice Like the pale moon in the dawn.

Musical Interlude

I Only Have Eyes For You, The Flamingos The Flamingos were one of the two greatest doo-wop groups associated with the Chess record company, the other being the Moonglows. Fans of the Dells may disagree. But during their time with Chess, the group's sound epitomized a purer form of doo-wop than their later, and more successful End records would have anticipated. While the End recordings were polished and pop oriented, the Chess fare finds the Flamingos at a searching, struggling beginning. Their sound was truer to that of a group of young men bursting out of the ghetto with world-class harmonies and jumping rhythm &blues stylings. The later End recordings would search for and emphasize the group's "crossover" appeal (Remember, the End album covers depict white teenagers at a party, pink flamingos in a garden, and the group, resplendent in supper-club wear.} by broadening the group's repertoire to include songs like Oscar Hammerstein's "Everybody's Got A Home But Me" and "You'll Never Walk Alone" along with the Swallows' "I Only Have Eyes For You" and the Five Royales' "Crazy, Crazy, Crazy." The earlier Chess recordings cast a different light on the young group, featuring then-typical jumps like "Chicka-Boom" and "Ko Ko Mo." But it was their early Chess ballads like "Dream Of A Lifetime," Whispering Stars," and "A Kiss From Your Lips" that would foreshadow the coming of the professionalism epitomized by the Temptations, and foretell the Flamingos eventual recognition as a world-class, Hall of Fame supergroup. --"Mr. Blues" Doug Curry

The Beguiling of Merlin by Edward Burne-Jones

Bare-footed, she slithers above him, his book of magic held like a platter, a phallic body, feline fingers, phallic nose, feminine lips, her neck an enormous temptation, snakes on her head, her dress a swirl-- blue-green skin, sadistic red hair: she's the one for him. Gray-haired Merlin has lost his beard, sick with disappointment: gaunt, weak tomcat eyes, a young man's fingers, he wants her to want him again. She took his wisdom & will-- excitement in the forest, the overwhelming white flowers. The hawthorn tree envelops him. http://www.csulb.edu/~csnider/merlin.b.jones.jpg

The Cornelian by Lord Byron to John Edleston

No specious splendour of this stone Endears it to my memory ever; With lustre only once it shone, And blushes modest as the giver. Some, who can sneer at friendship’s ties, Have, for my weakness, oft reprov’d me; Yet still the simple gift I prize, For I am sure, the giver lov’d me. He offer’d it with downcast look, As fearful that I might refuse it; I told him, when the gift I took, My only fear should be, to lose it. This pledge attentively I view’d, And sparkling as I held it near, Methought one drop the stone bedew’d, And, ever since, I’ve lov’d a tear. Still, to adorn his humble youth, Nor wealth nor birth their treasures yield; But he, who seeks the flowers of truth, Must quit the garden, for the field. ‘Tis not the plant uprear’d in sloth, Which beauty shews, and sheds perfume; The flowers, which yield the most of both, In Nature’s wild luxuriance bloom. Had Fortune aided Nature’s care, For once forgetting to be blind, His would have been an ample share, If well proportioned to his mind. But had the Goddess clearly seen, His form had fix’d her fickle breast; Her countless hoards would his have been, And none remain’d to give the rest.

The Beach by Robert Graves (1895-1985)

Louder than gulls the little children scream Whom fathers haul into the jovial foam; But others fearlessly rush in, breast high, Laughing the salty water from their mouthes-- Heroes of the nursery. The horny boatman, who has seen whales And flying fishes, who has sailed as far As Demerara and the Ivory Coast, Will warn them, when they crowd to hear his tales, That every ocean smells of tar.
